Manolis Katsobenakis, heir of family farm and successor of a thousand-year tradition of olive growing in Crete.

For many years, the Katsobenakis have been cultivating Koroneiki, a variety of olive trees considered superior in quality to the oil with excellent aroma.

The test of oil is not tart, no bitter or too spicy. Along with the aroma of dried herbs, fruity notes are strongly felt, the aftertaste of a green apple is mixed with the aroma of honey and mint.

For taste of its oil, rich and nobile, Koroneiki is called “The Queen of Olive Trees”. The fruits of Koroneika are smaller than those of other varieties, but they have the highest quality oil yield. Trees are pruned intensively once a year to keep them small, so no more than 3 to 5 liters of oil can be obtained from each tree. Quantity is sacrificed for quality.
